currently knitting...
danish knitwear designer vivian hoxbro's "tribute to marimekko" poncho. picked up this pattern and yarn pak at the stitches conference in santa clara a few weeks ago. it's a new technique for me.... very slow going... but very nice output. it's hard to see from this picture but the poncho is knit in a single piece and is made up of small squares. the row is knit along two sides of the square with a mid-row stitch sequence which allows a 90 degree bend in the center of the row, creating a diagonal line through the square -- a technique which presents lots of design possibilities.

dahlia :: bulky, thick and thin single ply blend of MERINO and TUSSAH SILK. incredibly soft and lovely with a subtle sheen.
otaksa :: lightly thick and thin (to bulky weight), hand-dyed 2-ply MERINO and TUSSAH SILK blend. soft with loads of bounce and a lovely subtle sheen.
