frozen custard heaven

cuisinarticecreammaker.jpg
each year in june, i make the annual trek to milwaukee, wisconsin -- that big bead heaven in the sky -- for the bead and button conference. i join friends (lynda and joy) and fellow fanatic bead collectors and jewelry designers to take classes, talk with nationally-known teachers, and shop like crazy. one thing we discovered in perfectscoop.jpgmilwaukee, aside from beads, was the heavenly scrumptiousness of frozen custard. people jam themselves into small buildings and wait in lengthy lines to get themselves a serving of frozen custard.

well, after nearly a year of lusting, i broke down and bought myself an ice cream maker and recipe book. yesterday, i produced my first batch of frozen custard -- white chocolate with bits of milk chocolate covered dried bing cherries. when the churning was finally done, i put it all into a container and into the freezer to harden up. then cheryl and i stood at the ice cream maker and ate all the remaining frozen custard clinging to the freezer bowl... mmm... mmm... good!
